Tibetan Cuisine (4 weeks)

Come learn to cook some of the more popular recipes of Tibetan cuisine. In this course, you'll learn to cook one dish each week, namely Momos (dumplings), Tingmos (Soft bun bread), Thukpa Bagthuk (noodle soup) and Sha-Baley (Pizza pocket)

MOMO:
Steamed dumplings stuffed with minced beef/vegetables and spices. (Cooking time: 4 hours)
TINGMO:
Shaped like bun steamed with green onion and turmic powder interior. (Cooking time: 3 hours)
THUKPA BAGTHUK:
Hand-pulled pasta (shaped like barley) in soup with beef with radish, tomato, one of the authentic dish from Tibet. (Cooking time: 3 hours)
SHA-BALEY: 
This is  bread stuffed with seasoned beef and fried. Savoury pastries, Tenzing calls them pizza pocket. (Cooking time: 4 hours)

 

Tibetan Dance (8 weeks)

Full of grace and a soft rhythmic feet movement, Tibetan dance is at once easy and fun to learn. In the beginners class, you'll learn simple dance movements from the three regions of Tibet. The dances offered in our course is an introduction to the folk dances from the three regions of Tibet, namely, Lhasa, Kham and the Amdo. Though different from each other, most of the Tibetan folk dances, with an exception of few, follow a simple beat and melody, thus making it easier to follow and learn.

Tibetan Language (8 weeks)

Learn to converse in basic Tibetan. This beginners course begins with learning alphabets and progresses to simple phrases that will come in handy, if you intend to visit Tibetan settlements in India or visit Tibet.

SHO, The Tibetan backgammon (4 weeks)

The Tibetan version of backgammon, except it is more complicated and that's why more fun. A very popular game among the Tibetans, it can be compared to backgammon. It is played enthusiastically during Losar and other festivities or just about anytime Tibetans get together and want to have a fun time. It involves coins, shells, dices, a leather pad and a dice cup. There are generally 3 players but 2 and 4 can also play this game.
What makes it more fun is the usage of colorful Tibetan slang words and the way they are shouted while throwing the dice. It is definitely a game with attitude. What's more, you can always fiddle with your dice. This 2-3-4 player board game comes with a variety of rules and colorful language to go with it.
