Ly Bui came to Montreal in the early 70s to pursue a masters in Mcgill College. He never went back. A resident of Brossard, he is an engineer by profession and works at Hydro Qubec but has pursued a side career as musician and a translator.

Ly plays the traditional music instruments of Viet Nam including the 16-Strings Cithar and the MonoChord. Ly is also a member of a Vietnamese Chorale and has worked in several plays.
