Bio

Kiran Ambwani, a social documentary photographer based in Montreal, freelances for various publications, agencies, and non-profit groups. Her photographs have been published in IB World magazine, Le Devoir, Wall to Wall, Metro, Mirror, The Bombay Times, and Aids Asia. Kiran is a graduate of McGill University and the Dawson Institute of Photography in Montreal. Her background in anthropology and environment has cultivated an interest in capturing the spirit of a people, their culture, and their environment.

Kiran has explored, among others, the lives of Tibetan monks in exile, the workers of Asia's largest slum Dharavi, the tea pickers in South India, and the indigenous women of Nepal. Kiran has collaborated on several humanitarian projects with NGOs in Canada, India, and Nepal. She has shown her personal work in both group and solo exhibitions in Canada and overseas.
