Bio

Tenzing Dolma Musu was born in Shimla, northwest India and lived in various Tibetan settlements before making her way to Canada with her father in 1986. Tenzing is youngest of three daughters, whose parents left the Kham region of Tibet in the early 60s. Tenzing dance journey began right from her school days in Tibetan Central School at Gurupura, when she showed remarkable aptitude for the dances and was chosen to tour with the school troupe. The loss of her mother at a young age and other personal reasons, hindered her to pursue a formal eduction at TIPA. But what she lacked for the formal training, she made up for it in self training and practice and later with informal lessons with the Ex TIPAs in the Montreal community.

In Montreal, Tenzing learnt and performed various folk and traditional songs and dances in their annual Tibetan Bazaar, New year celebrations, Dalai Lama's visit last year in Ottawa (Oct 28) and the 'Le Festival plein air de Montréal' at Jean Drapeau this year (May 24). Very much aware and protective of her cultural heritage, Tenzing has fine blended influences of the Indian culture, which surrounded her growing up days and of the fact of her close interactions with them. With grace and aplomb she combines the two cultures not in her performances but also in her daily life.

Tenzing interest in Tibetan costume and jewelry began early as she moved between different settlements which gave her a chance to observe various Tibetan traditional way of dressing. In Montreal where the community is  very small, Tenzing efforts to learn more of her cultural continues.

Tenzing works full time in the processing department, with the Canadian immigration Consultant and also is the secretary for the TCAQ since beginning of this year.
